5 Top Places to Grab a Quick Bite in Sydney

Sydney is a favourite destination for any discerning foodie, with plenty of delicious places to grab a bite - from three-hatted restaurants to awesome food trucks. Whatever your budget, you'll find something to tickle your taste buds at these grouse places that you can reach in your rental car.

1. Harry's Café de Wheels: a Sydney Institution

Since 1938, Harry's Café de Wheels has served meat pies from Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo – only a five minute drive from Bayswater Car Rental’s Sydney location. Since that time Harry's has spread, and you can now get his pies in Haymarket, North Parramatta, Tempe, Liverpool, Burwood, Penrith, Bondi Beach, and the city centre. No matter where you tuck in, you're assured of the quality Harry's is famous for. Try the Tiger Pie, named after Harry's founder Harry "Tiger" Edwards, or a traditional Aussie meat pie with sauce, each for less than five bucks.

2. Quay: Worth the Splurge!

If you only enjoy one night of decadence in Sydney, make it a night out at Quay. Peter Gilmore's harbourside jewel has won a prestigious three hats in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for the last 12 consecutive years. His iconic snow egg struck fear into the heart of MasterChef contestants, but there's plenty more to marvel over here, including the intriguing XO sea and complex roasted masterstock duck. Enjoy a four-course dinner for $175 or the tasting menu for $225.

3. Four in Hand: Hearty Cuisine

Four in Hand is another Sydney institution helmed by a familiar face to television audiences, Colin Fassnidge without the pomp and ceremony of Quay. The Paddington pub offers a bar menu for those on a budget and a dining room for anyone who feels like splashing out. It's not a restaurant for vegetarians though. Fassnidge celebrates nose-to-tail cooking with hearty dishes like charred lamb's tongue, ham hock potatoes, and his famous suckling pig.

4. 360 Bar and Dining: Get High Above the City

A restaurant in a shopping centre doesn't sound inspiring on paper, but the 360 Bar and Dining is a hidden gem. The restaurant revolves, and while that may seem a bit passe, there's something so romantic about tucking food as you admire the 360-degree views of the Sydney skyline. The menu features traditional meals done well, including wagyu beef check raviolo, seared king salmon fillet, and roasted rack of lamb. Enjoy two courses from $75 or three courses for $95.

5. Eat Art Truck is Sydney's Best Food Trucks

Food trucks have taken over Sydney in a big way, but the Eat Art Truck is one of the best. Its unique blend of Southern BBQ meets Japanese is unique and delicious. The cheap and cheerful menu features many dishes costing a tenner or less. Good Food rated the sashimi kingfish with crispy tortilla chips the best food truck meal in the city, but the chicken wings with shichimi pepper and BBQ brisket bun with kimchi slaw are also worth raving about. Download the Sydney Food Truck app to keep tabs on this truck and others around the city – and with your Bayswater Car Rental vehicle, they will never be too hard to get to!
